Ingredients

  • 350 g (¾ lb) peeled prawns, frozen and thawed or fresh
  • 6 garlic cloves, minced
  • 175 ml (¾ cups) extra virgin olive oil
  • ¼ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon crushed chili flakes
  • 1 lemon, cut into wedges

Instructions

  • Heat the olive oil in a cast iron or non-stick frying pan over high heat until it is very hot but not smoking.
  • Add the minced garlic and prawns to the pan. Cook until the prawns are pink and fully cooked, about 5 minutes.
  • Toss the cooked prawns with the crushed chili flakes and smoked paprika, ensuring they are evenly coated.
  • Squeeze the juice from the lemon wedges over the prawns. Sprinkle with fresh parsley, salt, and pepper to taste.
  • Serve immediately with white wine and crusty bread.

Notes

  • Chilli Flakes: You can omit the chili flakes for a milder version of garlic prawns.
  • Garlic: Fresh garlic is essential for this recipe. Its flavour is a key component, so use fresh, juicy garlic for the best results.
